Choose the best answer(根据短文内容,选择最恰当的答案)

Wales is a country that is part of Britain. Like all countries, it has a national flag. The flag is

made of two thick lines –green below, white on top. On its own that would like very boring, but the

flag of Wales is rather memorable. It also has a drawing of a fierce, blood-red dragon with wings, a

raised front leg and arrows for its tail and tongue.

Visit Wales and you will see this dragon flying proud above public and private buildings. You

will spot it at the top of Welsh government letters, and even on bar signs. Thousands of Welsh

business contain the words“Red Dragon”in their names –from small cafes to huge shopping malls. Much more interesting, however, is the story behind the dragon. It comes from the country’s old and colorful folk tales.

The Mabinogion is one of the oldest pieces of literature in Britain. In one of its stories, there is a fierce struggle between a red dragon and a white dragon. The cries of pain from the red dragon are a terrible thing. They are so horrific that they cause animals to die when they hear them. King Klud of Britain catches the two dragons, then he transports them to Snowdonia, the site of a tall mountain in Wales.

In another story, King Vortigern tries to build a castle on the site where the dragons are buried(埋葬), but the building is destroyed each night. It is a mystery to the King, who doesn’t know the dragons are there. A young magician tells the King about the dragons, who then sets them free. The two dragons continue their fight until the red dragon wins. This story made the red dragon an obvious choice for a national symbol.

There are other symbols of Wales, but it is the red dragon that means the most to Welsh people –and has the best stories.

【4】_______ is the superhero in the tales.

D. Answer the question(根据短文内容回答下列问题)

“When I grow up, I want to be…”

Almost every person has thought about, or been asked to think about, their future careers. People’s answers may differ greatly. Even now, your dream may have changed from when you were in primary school.

And just like this, the world of work today is hugely different from last century’s sorld. Just ask your parents ---they may have started a job upon their graduation from high school or college and struck with it until now.

But today’s younger generations can expect much more various working lives because we live

in a high-tech age. It means that the nature of all work is always changing, whether it’s in the tech

field or not.

A single skill set is no longer enough.“Instead of identifying(确定)your job role, you will

be usually adding skills based on what is going to make you more employable,”Jeanne Meister,

New York-based co-author of The Future Workplace Experience, told the BBC.

Forward-looking educators are looking for ways to prepare teenagers for the future. On April

24, the BBC interviewed the Canada-based career coach Jean-Philippe Michel. Michel believes that

it’s best for young people not to picture a single role—doctor, engineer or architect—but to think

about skills they can learn that will enable them to fit into different situations.

“They need to change from thinking about jobs and careers to thinking about challenges and

problems.”he told the BBC.

According to Michel,“deciding the skills you want to use leads to a career that’s more targeted

(有目标的)--and in this way more likely to bring you satisfaction. It also might be less a job and

more a set of projects and work situations that lead you from one thing to the next.”

So for today’s teenagers, this will likely mean the ability to try out many different jobs, rather

than enter into a more traditional role—say in accounting or finance. The most important thing is

to get their mindset(心态)ready for the challenges.

【1】Many parents may never change their jobs in their whole life time, may they?
